Forums are excellent sites that get tons of traffic and have many loyal and dedicated members only too willing to help others whilst simultaneously promoting their products.
If an internet marketer is not using a forum to make money online, then they are leaving a lot of money sitting on the table.
Forums are the places real people go to.
Think of it as you would your local mall. People go there to shop, and during holiday seasons and weekends, it can be difficult to even find a place to park. Almost any store that is set up in a good location inside the mall will do well, regardless of what they are selling. The reason is traffic and exposure.
A forum or discussion group is like a small mall of highly optimized traffic. The people that frequent a forum go there to get answers about the topic at hand, and in many cases, are willing to pay good cash to get answers and solutions.
Put yourself in front of this kind of traffic and you will make money.
That’s right. People congregate at these forums when they have a problem. There is a forum available for just about any topic. Health concerns, money or family problems, you name it - there is a forum out there that people go to.
They love to talk; and you will be highly accepted if you chime right in at their level and offer your valuable advice, without advertising your product right away.
The Gurus and Product Salespeople
The last group are the sellers. Those who have taken some initiative and actually produced some product that they’re now trying to sell to the members of the forum. They’re the ones claiming to be living the lifestyle the others crave and willing to part with the secrets to their (supposed) success for just $39. They develop a following with the veterans who swear by their information (but never act on it) which gives the gurus huge credibility with the new people. There’s nothing particularly insidious about the salespeople they’re just taking advantage of a hungry market. Unfortunately, the only thing they know is how to make money selling how to make money strategies - a skill they tell their followers they’ll be happy to teach them but one at which they secretly hope nobody will become successful.
Forum Marketing - making money using search engines
The popular forums in your industry are considered huge authority sites and they have a lot of weight in the search engines. Try searching for 10 random terms and you will see that many times, some of the top results are forum threads.
Using a forum to make money - not the only reason
You need to be clear about why are you in the forums, you are in there to offer value and make money and it is very easy to spend hours upon hours in there. Plan this so that you allocate a specific amount of time i.e. 2 hours reading and replying to posts. Do not fall into the trap either of visiting each thread once you have posted it just to see if someone else has posted into it and you need to reply. We all want to feel loved but you are running a business and that needs to remain your focus
